Compared with the hot stamping process of cigarette packs, the hot stamping process of tipping paperis more difficult in some aspects. Tipping paper belongs to the roll material, and most of them adopt the round-to-round hot stamping method, which has overall hot stamping and single-disc hot stamping. The heating method adopts electric or oil heating. The hot stamping plate cylinder is an integral plate, and it cannot be made into a partial plate like a cigarette pack. The base material is copper and steel (copper has good thermal conductivity and steel has high printing resistance).

Because the quantitative quantity of tipping paper products is relatively low, generally about 40g/m2, the temperature and humidity requirements of the workshop are relatively high. It is best to maintain constant temperature and humidity. At the same time, there are also high requirements for the hardness and material of the embossing roller. In the hot stamping process of tipping paper, the factors that affect product quality are mainly the following. 

1. The influence of anodized aluminum

In the hot stamping process of tipping paper products, the quality of anodized aluminum is closely related to the quality of hot stamping. For example, improper tightness of anodized aluminum (too loose or too tight) will cause unrealistic hot stamping; improper temperature of hot melt adhesive will cause hot stamping paste; during production, the curing time of anodized aluminum is too long or too short, the tension is too large or too small, the color is incorrect or unstable, etc., which will also directly affect the product quality.

2. The influence of hot stamping materials 

The influence of hot stamping materials on the hot stamping quality of tipping paper products is mainly reflected in the ink layer on the surface of the hot stamping materials. For example, excessive addition of white ink, which is used as a lightening agent in ink, will pull back the electroplated aluminum, causing unreal hot stamping. In addition, the temperature resistance and thickness of the ink layer will also affect the quality of hot stamping products, especially when using pearlescent ink printing. 

3. The influence of hot stamping speed

If the hot stamping speed is too slow, the hot stamping pattern will not be clear (except for products with special requirements). With the increase of speed, the performance of electroplated aluminum, hot stamping temperature and hot stamping pressure reach the best state, and the pattern, text and lines on the product will become clear. The machine speed of hot stamping of tipping paper is mostly about 40 meters per minute, and it should be adjusted according to the complexity of the pattern, the size of the text and the thickness of the lines.

4. The influence of hot stamping temperature

The hot stamping temperature plays a key role in product quality. If the hot stamping temperature is too high, it is easy to cause the pattern to be blurred; if the temperature is too low, it is easy to cause the hot stamping to fail. The hot stamping plates using oil or electric heating and copper or steel as the substrate also have great differences in temperature control. Generally, they are equipped with temperature detectors, which are mainly used to detect the actual temperature of the hot stamping plate surface.

5. The influence of hot stamping pressure

Hot stamping pressure mainly refers to the pressure of the rubber roller on the hot stamping plate, which also plays a very important role in hot stamping of tipping paper. Too little pressure will cause the hot stamping to fail, too much pressure will cause the plate to be smeared, and may cause the tipping paper product to crack and shorten the service life of the hot stamping plate. When setting the pressure, it should be increased gradually from small to large.
